Mark T. Bessent was raised in Brownwood, Texas. After graduating from Brownwood High School, Mark attended Hardin-Simmons University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Mark then attended Texas Wesleyan University School of Law and was licensed to practice law in 1999. Mark was also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in 2001.
In 2001, he and his wife, Kara, moved back to Brownwood and opened his law firm. Since that time, Mark has continued to strive to provide the best legal services available to his clients.
Mark and Kara have 3 children. They are members of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church where Mark serves as a deacon. Mark is a former Trustee of the Brownwood Firemen Retirement and Relief Fund, a Board Member of the Brownwood Municipal Development District, and a Trustee of the Hall Brothers Trust. Mark is also the City Attorney for the cities of Bangs, Blanket, and Early.
Mark represents both businesses and individuals in various legal matters. His license as a Certified Public Accountant allows him to see many matters from a different viewpoint than other attorneys might view it. He also represents his clients in the areas of estate planning and probate, tax issues, business entities, and real estate, as well as other matters.
Mark has represented clients in Brown, Callahan, Coleman, Comanche, Eastland, Erath, Hamilton, Lampasas, Mills, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, San Saba, Somervell, Tom Green, and Taylor Counties.
